Getting Started with ScreenSense

Welcome to ScreenSense! This guide will help you create your first screen recording and share it with your team.

Why Screen Recording?

Screen recordings are one of the most effective ways to communicate complex ideas. Whether you're:

  • Explaining a bug to your development team
  • Creating a tutorial for new team members
  • Giving feedback on a design mockup
  • Documenting a process for future reference

A quick screen recording can save hours of back-and-forth communication.

Step 1: Log In to ScreenSense

Navigate to the ScreenSense application and log in with your Google account. We use Google OAuth for secure, passwordless authentication.

Step 2: Start Recording

Once logged in, you'll see the Record button in the sidebar. Click it to open the recording panel.

You can choose to record:

  1. Your entire screen - Great for tutorials and walkthroughs
  2. A specific window - Perfect for app demos
  3. A browser tab - Ideal for web-based content

Step 3: Record Your Content

Click Start Recording and begin your demonstration. A few tips:

Pro Tip: Speak clearly and at a moderate pace. You can always re-record if needed!

  • Keep recordings concise when possible
  • Use your cursor to point at important elements
  • Pause briefly before clicking to let viewers follow along

Step 4: Stop and Review

When you're done, click Stop Recording. Your video will be automatically processed and optimized for streaming.

You can:

  • Preview your recording
  • Add a title and description
  • Trim the beginning or end

Step 5: Share Your Recording

Every recording gets a unique share link. Click the Share button to:

  • Copy the link to your clipboard
  • Share directly to Slack or Discord
  • Embed the video in documentation
